For anyone who hasn’t been out before, it’s a songwriter-circle style setup, and then there’s an open mic — so bring your guitar, washboard, pocket vibes, or other instrument of choice. Best of all, it’s in a great cause: the idea is to raise money for Carmichael Outreach, and to raise awareness about housing and homelessness issues in Regina.

For folks who like odd trivia: the weird picture is from Les songes drolatiques de Pantagruel, a 1565 book of woodcuts allegedly (but not really) by everyone’s favourite wacky French Renaissance writer, Rabelais. They’re crazy and awesome, and also inspired a series of illustrations by Salvador Dali.

I just like the look of them. Dude’s a drum!
